Hi! I am Nathalie but my dearest friends and family call me “LIE”. In 2018 I moved with my husband and 2 daughters from Belgium to the amazing little town of Ericeira, in Portugal. Already a big adventure for us! In Belgium I was a teacher but when I arrived here, I was ready for something new. I was so inspired and WONDERED by this country of “ceramica” and I missed the creativity of my job as a teacher. It was time for some creativity, a new challenge with my hands.

 

So I was really EXCITED when I met Paulo, a local “oleiro”, very passioned. He showed me and my friend the first initiations on the wheel. So proud and happy with my first, imperfect, too heavy pieces 😉 I fell in love with clay immediately!

Soon I bought my own wheel and a kiln. I followed courses in Lisbon and Sintra but I still missed some basics till I found “De cursist” in Belgium. Finally I could improve myself!! But I wanted more..

I missed my social life, being surrounded by PASSIONED people with the same interests. So I started a creative studio where I can share my passion and my excitement about ceramics. At TIA LIE CASA CRIATIVA I want to create a little home for you, a cosy “casa” where adults and kids can show their creativity, their talents and theirselves.

CREATIVITY for me has a very wide perspective. Its not only wheeltrown pieces but also handbuilding. I love playing and experimenting with shapes and colors. I use my years of experience of being a teacher to help you and improve your skills!

I make tableware but also jewelry. I like to organize workshops but also “claytastingparties” (first clay experiences together with friends or family)

I am so THANKFUL I could take this step in my life, so thankful I can do what I do!
I like to make special, unique and tasteful pottery inspired by the beautiful beaches and nature surrounding me. Every piece I make is 100% handmade with a lot of love in my studio in Portugal.

Ceramic Workshops
Hi, nice to meet you! Curious how it feels, hands full of clay, enjoying the feeling of throwing on the wheel? Being creative with your hands? Then these are the perfect ceramic workshops for you!
 

THIS IS HOW I WORK
As a first step I will tell you something about the clay, the process, the glazing.. the different possibilities.. after this I´ll show you how to wedge the clay.
Now the real fun on the wheel can start!
In my studio I have 5 wheels available, this allows me to work in little groups. I sit next to you and show you step by step the different movements. This allows me to give you all the attention you need. We learn how to centre the clay, we try to make different shapes and find out what happens with our piece if we use different techniques..

Afterwards we also learn how to finish or trim our pieces on the wheel. The last step of this creative process, is colouring or glazing your own work. (only if you choose for a package otherwise I’ll finish your pieces for you)

SO WHAT IS INCLUDED!
The clay, using the wheel, using an apron, a coffee or tea with some sweets. Baking your pieces 2 times. One workshop takes about 2,5 hours. 2 Hours on the wheel and 30 min. for the introduction and the cleaning at the end of the lesson.

IMPORTANT : NO ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR BURNING, GLAZING, .. everything is included in the price only if you want to create more pieces or if you want to send your pieces , you pay an extra fee.

PRICES
MINI GROUP LESSONS (max. 5 persons) :

1 GROUP Introduction lesson: you pay 65€ p.p. (2 finished pieces included)

if you like to come back for an extra group lesson, you will pay 65€ but you will trim first your previous pieces and make 1 new piece.

Package of 5 group lessons: you pay 275€ p.p. (4 finished pieces included)

Package of 10 group lessons: you pay 550€ p.p. (10 finished pieces included)

If you like to follow the workshop with 1 or more friends, also possible. Since I have 5 wheels, you can sit next to each other and I can still show it to you, even more fun on the wheel!

PRIVATE LESSONS (for 1 or 2 persons) :

1 Private lesson: 90€ p.p. (2 pieces included)

Package of 5 private lessons: you pay 400€ p.p. (4 finished pieces included)

Package of 10 private lessons: you pay 775€ p.p. (10 finished pieces included)

You created more pieces and you like to finish them too? This is possible, in this case you pay 10€/1 piece extra.
